Brushing Your Teeth

Does brushing your teeth cause to heave or vomit? This is very common especially while brushing the back teeth or tongue but sometimes it is enough just to put the toothbrush into your mouth. Here are some practical tips to help you keep your teeth healthy.

  • Avoid brushing your teeth directly after a meal.
  • If your morning sickness follows a pattern wait until the time of the day when you sickness is less problematic.
  • Use a low foaming toothpaste - you can get a powder form for health stores.
  • Try a natural toothpaste that does not contain any chemicals. I highly recommend Kingfisher or Tom's toothpaste- I still use it today.
  • Brush you front teeth first.
  • Take a deep breath slowly exhale and quickly do the back ones - don't linger, else you will be heaving before you know it.
  • If you feel the urge to heave - take in a deep breath to the count of 8 hold for 4 and out for 9 - repeat until you feel the urge has dissapeared.
  • Do not brush your teeth immediately after vomiting as this can destroy the enamel on your teeth.
  • If all else fails try and swish some mouth wash. Ask your health food store for one with the least amount of chemicals.

Try you best as your teeth and gums are very vunerable to infection due to the hormone progesterone so good oral hygiene is important
