Rest Helps Morning Sickness
Growing a baby takes a lot of energy, and you will probably find you need even more sleep than you did before you were pregnant. If you are also suffering from morning sickness, a lack of sleep may even make you feel worse.
Adequate sleep is extremely important to getting you back on your feet. Try to sleep a minimum of seven hours… and supplement that with a nap if possible. Daytime rest makes a big difference, especially in early pregnancy. So much is happening in early pregnancy, even though you can’t see it. The baby is developing all its major organs and structures, the placenta is developing… all this energy comes from you. If you’re sleeping 7-8 hours and find you are still sleepy, listen to your body and give it what it needs. Some women find that 10 hours of sleep is what is needed to make them feel normal again. Some need that plus naptime during the day. If you are napping, schedule them so they don’t take place right after eating, this may make your nausea worse.
Rest
Fatigue contributes a lot to morning sickness. Make
time for relaxation. Nap during the day if possible.
Low key activities like watching a movie or visiting
with friends over a healthy snack can put you in a
relaxed frame of mind and keep you from dwelling on
your discomfort. Indulge yourself a little bit. Pregnancy
lasts such a short time out of a lifetime. A little
aromatherapy may be helpful to you. Different scents
can promote relaxation, and some even help with nausea.
Be sure and get your information from a reliable source,
as some scents should not be used in pregnancy.
